NEWPORT, Sept. 24. -- Mr. and Mrs. H. Mortimer Brooks and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Livermore will end their Newport visit this week and go to New York for the Dewey celebration, after which they will go to Mrs. Brooks's Long Island place for the Fall months.

NEWPORT, Sept. 25. -- George Gordon King has sold his villa, known as Edgehill, situated on Harrison and Beacon Hill Road, to Mrs. Herman B. Duryea. This property comprises about twenty-two acres of land, a stone dwelling and stable, and also a stone landing pier in Brenton's Cove, together with a way leading from Harrison Avenue to it between the estates of Henry White and the late William F. Burden.

NEWS OF THE GOLF WORLD.

Patriotism and golf have been well blended for the coming Dewey Day celebrations by the Harbor Hill Golf Club, Staten Island. Unlike most clubs which have abandoned all competitions for those days, the Harbor Hill committee has prepared a most elaborate programme, and the patriotic ring attached to the trophies ought to call forth spirited contests.
