The purchases are an extension of a program to reacquire shares for employee stock-purchase and savings plans and for other corporate purposes, the company said.

LEAD: The First Republicbank Corporation, the shell-like corporation that was left over after the NCNB Corporation bought the First Republicbank group in a Federally financed bailout, said it had agreed to sell one of its few remaining assets, a data processing company, for $55 million cash. Under the terms of the agreement, NCNB Texas will take over the management of the company, the First Republicbank Services Company, in expectation of its purchase from the former bank-holding company.
