LEAD: The Bethlehem Steel Corporation said that as a result of improved operating results it would report a profit for the fourth quarter instead of the operating loss it had expected. Bethlehem, the nation's third-largest steelmaker, said a $130 million investment tax-credit refund would be recorded in 1987, instead of in the fourth quarter of last year.

LEAD: The Electronic Data Systems Corporation said that it had acquired Societe Pour L'Informatique, a French computer services company, for an undisclosed amount. The purchase of the subsidiary of Pechiney added 600 employees to the 230 workers at E.D.S. International S.A., the French operating unit of the Dallas-based concern.
